Many people choose to buy brand new products when buying something for themselves. While this can be a tempting choice, opting to get used sports equipment can actually come with quite a few remarkable benefits.

If you want to stay savvy with your money, used equipment is the way to go. When you search through second-hand items, you will often find fantastic pieces of equipment that are not nearly as expensive as brand new items.

Found the treadmill I was looking for at a great price and it was 15% off the sticker price. Came home to find a free one year ifit gift card inside which made the deal even better. Highly recommend for sports equipment at a better cost!

Sports gear for kids can get expensive. With rapidly growing bodies (hello, two and sometimes three new soccer cleats a year for multiple kids), and a retinue of sport interests, it would be great if you could get a deal on used sports equipment. Or, if you could pass on all those shin guards, helmets, and leotards you have taking up precious space.

Sports equipment, sporting equipment, also called sporting goods, are the tools, materials, apparel, and gear used to compete in a sport and varies depending on the sport. The equipment ranges from balls, nets, and protective gear like helmets. Sporting equipment can be used as protective gear or a tool used to help the athletes play the sport. Over time, sporting equipment has evolved because sports have started to require more protective gear to prevent injuries.[1] Sporting equipment may be found in any department store or specific sporting equipment shops.

Historically many sports players have developed their own sporting equipment over time. For instance, the use of a football dates back to ancient China, between 225 BC and 220 AD.[citation needed] As football remains the most popular sport in the 21st century, the material of the ball has completely changed over the centuries; from being made out of animal skin, to being lined with multiple layers of polyester or cotton.[citation needed]

Protective equipment is often worn for sports including motor sport and contact sports, such as ice hockey and American football or sports where there is a danger of injury through collision of players or other objects. Protective equipment includes:

We have a selection of new used exercise equipment. We have a variety of treadmills, bikes, ellipticals, benches and more. Most of the used items sell quickly and our inventory changes daily, therefore we are unable to put every piece of equipment on our website. If you know exactly what you are looking for give us a call and we will check our inventory.

Dont forget we also buy used exercise equipment or you can trade in your equipment that you are not using anymore for something else. Please keep in mind if you wish to trade or sell your item it must be in 100% working condition. We do not do any repairs.

Buy used equipment on online marketplaces such as Craigslist, eBay, Nextdoor, Facebook Marketplace or used gear shops such as Play It Again Sports. Avoid buying safety gear, such as helmets or climbing gear, used as it may not perform as it should.

Whether you play sports recreationally or professionally, you may have noticed that some sports result in far more waste than others. Things like balls, tennis racket strings, sneakers, uniforms, and helmets are necessities for athletes, but unfortunately, they are not usually built to last forever. But is it possible to donate, resell, or recycle sports equipment?

The good news is, whether your game of choice is basketball, tennis, baseball, soccer, boxing, hockey, cricket, or anything in between, there are a number of ways to sustainably pass on your used sports equipment, and make sure it stays out of landfills. Keep reading for a look into various buy back, donation, and recycling programs for sports gear.

If your used sports equipment is still usable, you may consider selling it. The first step would be contacting your local sporting goods store, as many will purchase used (but still usable) items such as rackets, gloves, sneakers, cleats, apparel, protective equipment (like shin guards and knee pads), balls, skates, skis, and snowboards, and then resell them.

New York-based organization Victory Sports accepts hockey, soccer, football, basketball, baseball, lacrosse, golf, and fitness equipment, as well as wheeled items like bikes and scooters, and then passes them on to children in need. Victory Sports has a number of drop boxes across the state, where you can donate clean sports equipment that has been used for less than two years and is in at least like-new condition.

For larger pickups of sports or outdoor equipment (including kayaks or hot tubs), check out the junk removal company LoadUp. You can schedule a pickup of pretty much any item, and LoadUp will either donate the item to an organization in need, or break it down and recycle it. The company does charge a fee, which depends on the item/size.

Basically, if you can afford a TerraCycle box, that could be the easiest option for recycling multiple different pieces of sports equipment. Otherwise, the above programs and ideas should help you get your gear recycled or donated. In the near future, we'd love to see more sports equipment stores, as well as sport organizations, leagues and tours, create programs to make recycling athletic equipment more accessible.

Allsports & Cycle is North Edmonton's home for used sporting equipment. Bring in your gently used equipment to trade up for new gear or store credit to be used on almost anything in the store! We strive to have something for every budget. Visit the store and shop our used section today!

As our seasons shift in Edmonton, we have to keep space for the most in demand used equipment, and wil only accept equipment during the season it's demand is high. See details below on our used Hockey, Baseball, and Golf requirements.

Unfortunately, we do not accept all sports equipment. Equipment intake is based on our needs/stock level and season. All gear will be assessed, but we cannot guarantee acceptance. The best time to bring in your gear is typically 1-2 months before a sports season starts. Ex. Hockey season is September-March so gear intake starts in July. We only accept gear in full working condition. If a repair is needed we cannot accept it.

Once we asses your equipment and given a value, it will be traded for store credit. There is no expiry on store credit. Your credit can be used for both new and used goods. Used Equipment Credit cannot be used on bicycles. We do not do trades for cash. Acceptance of goods is up to Allsports staff discretion. Allsports & Cycle does not manage credit. Additional funds will be added to a gift card. Lost cards will not be re-issued.

We are generally looking for higher end used sports equipment vancouver products. Due to limited space, we reserve the right to refuse certain sports gear if we feel it will not serve our inventory needs.

Last year I wrote about nonprofits that give away pianos, This week I found, courtesy of Washington Post reporter Michael S. Rosenwald, that there are a growing number of organizations that give away used sporting equipment to clubs and nonprofits.

These donations are important because nearly everyone believes that children ought to get more exercise, and playing in sports leagues is a good way to do that. But equipment costs money. Rosenwald cites a 2014 study from the University of Florida which found that 33 percent of children whose families earned more than $100,000 played sports, while only 15 percent of kids whose families earned less than $25,000 played in organized leagues. 041b061a72
